Observational research Essay Essay Example

Observational research Essay Essay Experimental research. besides known as field research. pertains to a research attack that engages in the direct recording of a phenomenon as it occurs in its natural status ( Zechmeister et al. . 2003 ) . This research attack is distinguishable from the other research methods because it employs a quasi-artificial scenario that is comprised of a figure of factors. of which some could be controlled. The capacity to command at least one of the factors in the environment allows the research worker to execute the scientific method that would reply the developed hypothesis. Observational research could be performed utilizing any of the three classified types of experimental techniques. The covert type of experimental research involves unidentified research workers that straight interact with the survey participants and remain undetected until the completion of the probe. In other instances. the research workers are positioned at a distance from the survey participants. yet are still capable of direct observation of the actions and interactions that each of the survey participants engages in. The namelessness of the research worker in the scenario provides survey participants to freely show themselves and to liberally do determinations without being influenced by the research worker. Unfortunately. it is besides possible that certain ethical misdemeanors could be related to this type of experimental attack. chiefly as a signifier of misrepresentation that is associated with the researchers’ namelessness. The open type of experimental research allows the research workers to place themselves to the survey participants. In add-on. the research workers are besides required to to the full unwrap the intent of their probe to the survey participants. One disadvantage that is strongly associated with the open type of experimental research is the impact of the revelation on the behaviour of the survey participants during the full experimental period. It is really natural for an person to be alert of their actions when they are cognizant that at least one person is detecting their behaviour. As such. the survey participant exerts attempt in projecting the ideal personality that is acceptable to the eyes of the perceiver and decidedly non brooding of the existent personality of the survey participant. However. it should be understood that in this type of experimental research attack. there would be no ethical issues related to misrepresentation of the survey participants because the individuality and the ends of the research worker have been disclosed early on. Researcher engagement is another experimental type of research attack that engages the research worker in the scenario that is being studied. One advantage of this type of experimental technique is that the research worker is allowed to straight interact and to straight appreciate an incident that is being studied. Aside from taking notes of the effects and reactions of the survey participants. the research worker besides interacts with the remainder of the scenario and respects himself as another survey participant in the probe. One disadvantage of this experimental type is that the research worker may lose path of the ends of his research survey because he becomes highly engrossed in the activities happening in the survey scenario. In the experimental survey described in this unit. the covert attack was employed. wherein the research worker straight interacted with 50 survey participants with their cognition of his function and his ends in the interaction. In add-on. the survey participants are incognizant that they are being observed in footings of their attitudes and responses to a specific stimulation or scene. The research worker therefore chooses to project a smiling stance as he talks to 50 persons and he takes note of the response of each of the survey participants during his exchange with them. The research worker so rates the response of each of the survey participants as really friendly. friendly or impersonal.

Free Essays on Alexander Hamilton Free Essays on Alexander Hamilton Alexander Hamilton was brilliant businessman who came into the Treasury department with many ideas on how to stabilize the struggling American economy. He was a thirty-four year old native of the West Indies, who was a crucial part of President Washington's cabinet. His ideas and philosophies helped to pave th4e way for the Bank of America and the Treasury. As one of his first acts as Secretary of Treasury, Hamilton was determined to reverse the financial problems that plagued the government and country under the recently revised Articles of Confederation. His plan involved favoring the wealthier members of society, who would in turn give money and moral support to the government. The government would then prosper and the benefits would be reaped by all. Hamilton was also dead set on sustaining the national credit. He needed the support of the masses in order to advance his economic plans. His plan of action in this case was "funding at par," which involved the federal government paying off its debts at face value, plus accumulated interest, which came to a total of fifty-four million dollars, a very substantial amount of money at that time. While still backing his national debt plans, Hamilton also suggested that Congress pay the debts of the individual states, equaling some twenty-one million dollars. This idea of "assumption" was believed by Hamilton to be an obligation of Congress because the debts occurred during the country's fight for independence. Hamilton also believed that paying off the State's debts would create more unity in among the States. With the government trying to pay both national, and local state debts, they shortly fell into a seventy-five million dollar overall debt. Hamilton did not see this as a problem, but more of an advantage to the growing American economy. His philosophy was that the more countries that America owed money, the more people who h... Marekting Concepts - Classic Airlines Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Marekting Concepts - Classic Airlines - Essay Example In addition, there are high levels of uncertainty in the firm. These uncertainties range from reduced customers to a flight of a half full aero jet. As a result, there is a considerably increased charge to cater for these uncertainties. The fact that there are a number of other airlines is a challenge by itself. Competition is high in this business and leads to a reduction in the number of customers with time. Since the year 2005, there has been a problem in customer loyalty. Existing customers (even today) are trying other airlines hence switching from Classic Airlines. Due to the prominence of the first four airlines, this particular one has lost market (Kotler & Keller, 2006). Due to the tough economic times, costs of most items go up by day. Labor and fuel go up at an alarming rate and at times fluctuates. It makes competition for Classic Airline a big challenge, therefore. In a move to try fighting these challenges, this airline had to call for a crisis meeting which cost the company a lot to finance for the transport of major stakeholders as well as cater for their sitting allowances. There was some workforce downsizing, which affected the company a great deal. When experts are sent home, this is the beginning of trouble; less work will be done by the few remaining workers. Machines are deemed to fail at times. According to University of Phoenix Material (n.d), many lives have been lost in this mode of transport. Paying salaries for the expensive expertise becomes a challenge and the burden is transferred to the customer. As noted by University of Phoenix Material (n.d), Classic Airlines have one of the challenged corporate cultures in the world. On the contrary, there are departments that are not working to realize the requirements of their customers. For this reason, there has been a problem in bringing together some of the company processes and operations. There is the use of customer relationship management that is catered in the marketing

Bullying at Work Place Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words

Bullying at Work Place - Essay Example promotion) for the bully." (Field, 1999) The employees and the managers undertake bullying in order to hide their inefficiency in managing the inadequacy of the tasks performed by the subordinates and team members. The higher the person bullies the higher the level of inadequacy he shows at his workplace. In today's a management era when the business missions are comprise of short term goals with a short time span to be achieved in, the work pressure, time constraints and the surge to show high level performance leads to more frustration in case of failure to achieve any of the above mentioned factors. The purpose of bullying is to hide inadequacy. Bullying has nothing to do with managing etc; good managers manage, bad managers bully. Management is managing; bullying is not managing. Therefore, anyone who chooses to bully is admitting their inadequacy, and the extent to which a person bullies is a measure of their inadequacy. Bullies project their inadequacy on to others. The global political changes have transformed the simple role of those who are leading. Instead of one workforce, one way of working one culture, one set of best practices, one leader there are now issues of alignment, of accommodation of differences, of management of diversity, and of synchronisation, in order to present a global view to both internal and external circumstances. In addition, there are different sets of expectations to be managed. Leadership is Leadership is an important aspect of managing. (Kotler, 1990) As the part of this paper will show what qualities a leader (man/ woman) should posses in order to lead effectively. Managers must exercise all the function of their role in order to combine human and material resources to achieve objectives. The key to doing this is the existence of a clear role and a degree of discretion or authority to support manager's actions. The essence of leadership is follower ship. (Haller & Til, 1982) In other words, it is the willingness of people to follow that makes a person a leader. Moreover, people tend to follow those whom they see as providing a means of achieving their own desires, wants, and needs. Leadership and motivation are closely interconnected. By understanding motivation, one can appreciate better what people want and why they act as they do. Women leaders may not only respond to subordinates, motivations but also arouse or dampen them by means of the organisational climate they develop. Both these factors are as important to leadership as they are to manager ship. The motivation given by the leadership makes the followers to depict certain behavioural attitudes. These values transformed by the leader in his/ her followers are different in men and women. Valian has presented them as gender schemas. According to Valian (1999) the gender schemas are the stereotypes and bases learned in childhood. The gender schema for men includes "being capable of independent, autonomous actionassertive, instrumental, and task-oriented" (Valian, 1999). For women, the schema is different and includes "being nurturant, expressive, communal, and concerned about others" (Valian, 1999). Both men and women express their personality trials according to the above schema. The organisational trials and values are designed in accordance with the male schema. That's why the

Examine how Heaney presents his relationship with his father in :: English Literature

Examine how Heaney presents his relationship with his father in Digging and Follower. In the poem the Follower, the poet admires his father with all factions. The poet, Heaney, describes his father on verse 2, stanza 1 as being a very strong, well built man and classifies him as an "expert" (verse 5, stanza 2) when it comes to working in the field. In verse 10-12, stanza 3, Heaney describes his father's eye as "his eye narrowed and angled at the ground mapping the furrow exactly", this verse describes his father as if he was a sailor, carefully, watching the field as a map with a close eye making sure that everything is moving or growing the way they should be. In the poem digging, the reader begins to get a sense that time has moved on, and that the young boy has now become older as so did his father. The poet, Heaney, says on verse 7, stanza 3, "till his straining rump along the flowerbeds", this verse indicates that his father is old, and strains as he bends over to the flowerbeds, but even though the father is aging, he is still a strong man who can still hold a spade. Also, in the poem digging, it mentions about the grandfather of the poet. Heaney describes his grandfather through a series of recollections he had with him. In stanza 6 of the poem Digging, it is there the reader, reads about the poets past with his grandfather. From, the memories the poet recalls, the reader can see that the grandfather was like the father, careful and we also catch from verse 19 -21, stanza 6, which is a memory Heaney recalls of giving milk to his grandfather, he drinks it but than falls right away to work. From these verses the reader sees that he is extremely dedicated to his work and feels very strongly about it. In the end of the poem the Follower, the poet ends it very sudden, and leaves the reader puzzled. The end of the poem the poet says, "à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦It is my father who keeps stumbling behind me, and will not go away" (verse 23-24, stanza 6). These last two statements speak about the poet, as he is older. He is now taken on the tradition of continuing the legacy of farming as his father had done when he was young. When Heaney says he now stumbles behind me, the poet does not literally mean that his father is, but metaphorically instead is. In the past the son has admired his father's abilities to be able to farm with such elegancy,

Disney College Program †Magical Internship or Mousecatraz Essay

A year and a half ago I packed my bags and drove the stretch to Orlando to officially begin my term in the Disney College Program. Since then I have experienced the behind the scenes side of Disney World, and I have learned what I would consider to be the pros and cons of becoming a Disney cast member. While I would love to believe that life as a Disney employee is nothing but a dream, spending a semester there has opened my eyes to both the magical benefits and also the hard work that it takes to live there. Today I’m going tell you more of what life at Disney consists of and what you can expect in the Disney College Program. Imagine this: You wake up early in your Orlando hotel room; you’re too excited and nervous to eat because today your program starts. You make your way over to Vista Way Apartments to get a good spot in line, anxious because you’re only hours away from meeting your future roommates and receiving the one thing that has been eating you alive for months – your job assignment! Your semester has barely started, and it’s already nerve-wracking. A term in Disney of course will hold some high expectations. According to the official Disney College program website, As a Disney College Program participant, you’ll become part of the magic that is known worldwide. You’ll get valuable, on-the-job experience in the parks and resorts, and expand your knowledge in a classroom with international students. Discover new worlds and create long-lasting memories. All of these statements have truth to them, but what you may not know is that the slightest tweak of your expectations can make or break your time there. By the end of the first day, I had 5 new roommates, and I was a new merchandise cast member at one of Disney’s Resorts. The time I spent from August to December in Orlando was full to the brim with great and incredible memories. These times were the pros of the experience. When you first arrive, Disney requires each of their cast members to go through an orientation class called ‘traditions’ where you learn about the exceptional value Disney places on their famous customer service. Even though it was orientation, I have to admit it was pretty exciting. They really know how to get you pumped about being part of creating that Disney magic. Having the opportunity to assist in making those moments that last a lifetime for other families is absolutely amazing. The friends that you will make there will also last a lifetime. I made friends from all over the world while I was there. That’s something that I wouldn’t trade for anything. And what’s better than spending time with those friends in the Disney parks†¦ for free! This must be the ultimate perk, but there are countless others. To top of all of that, working for Disney is an excellent addition to your resume. Unfortunately, along with the pros come the cons. The number one complaint that I have heard would be the problems you will encounter with roommates. If you opt to stay on Disney property, which has many benefits, you will be required to share a bedroom with one other person and most likely your apartment with several others. While I lived in an apartment of six including myself, you could end up with a total of eight. With that many people under one roof, it would be a miracle if everyone got along. On top of the stress of your living space, you are required to wear your goofy looking uniform to a job that you played no part in the selection of. Being a college program cast member, you are automatically considered temporary or expendable, and because of that you automatically take lowest priority. You will work hard hours, and out of the multiple managers in your area, you will most likely not enjoy all of them to say the least. Working for a company with such demanding guests will take a toll on you. Despite the lower points that you will come across while you are there, the Disney College program is an excellent overall experience. You will learn much more than you could possibly expect. You can even take courses that can apply for college credit if you choose. Your patience and tolerance will increase significantly, trust me. The months you spend there will stay with you forever. In conclusion, I hope that I have been able to give you more insight on the program. There are some very heavy pros and cons in this program, but whether or not the good outweighs the bad is left up to you. If you are considering taking this journey yourself, I would recommend that you take the leap. You’ll most likely have bad days, but you will treasure the memories and friends you make there forever.

The Denver Art Museum Architecture - 1690 Words

The Denver art Museum, a very strange looking building at first sight. Well I guess the question to ask is strange to what? Because everything is relative. So the Denver art museum architecture is very different relative to the buildings around it. To me it looks like an explosion of shapes, Boxes and triangles and wedge shaped objects flying from the center of creativity. As said earlier the architecture is strange or vastly different relative to the buildings around it, but when you push your views aside and look at the building for what it is, you see that it is art. The detention of â€Å"architecture† is the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings, so by this, every architect is an artist. Some are much more conventional, some are expressive, they design and express buildings to resemble something different. So I looked a second time at the building and saw not just a strange looking building but a giant piece of artwork, expressing 10 different building d esigns in one building to house the artwork of many others. As I entered the building I saw the artwork of the building was not just exterior. Yet, Inside, even stripped of all the art work it still, the building itself was still art. With expressive lines and shapes, the layout of the building was expressing new and old, fancy and plane architecture all into its own beautiful piece of artwork.
